The Requiem text for this small painting, focuses on the demise of neighbourhood houses in residential areas of Vancouver. Many fine and still usable homes are being demolished in order to build larger, more glamorous dwellings. As result trees and shrubs are being cut down, the environment polluted with the unnecessary discarding of building materials to landfills, and the ‘social fabric’ of the neighbourhood being steadily eroded.
