This piece incorporates the repeated word Kyrie from the Latin Mass, as if it were the repeated pleas from a number of imagined voices. The format is inspired by folding altar screens, such as the kind seen in many older churches in Europe. So this work has two narrow ‘wings’ that are hinged to the central panel. Both of these wings can be closed to form a smaller size. The back of the panels is painted.
