Requiem To Urban Destruction - Triptych
2015
Acrylic and bits of wood, on paper
13h x 27w inches (3 pieces combined)
Panel 1

This work expresses the chaos and destruction being caused as a result of Vancouver’s real estate market: perfectly livable homes being torn down, creating a ‘war zone’ appearance. The word requiem is incorporated in the profusion of broken construction materials. The handwritten text at the top of each panel is taken from a typical real estate advertisement: ‘This wonderful home located in a desirable neighbourhood for sale’. Cynically, no matter how nice the home, its fate is the same: demolition.
